Burntail Arts is proud to present Reinventing The Wolf, a musical, magical investigation of consent, identity, and the unmapped areas where monsters are found. A new play by Anna Hopps and directed by Sofia Lindgren Galloway, Reinventing the Wolf follows the whimsical journey of college senior Amy Sorrel and four of her peers as they try to attend a party, try not to study, and succeed in drinking a lot. Identities are challenged, secrets are revealed, and five young women are forced to confront the grey areas surrounding consent and sexual assault.
Reinventing the Wolf was conceived after a conversation about sexual assault on college campuses and the grey areas surrounding consent. Anna and Sofia were determined to create a play that addressed these social issues in a way that was inclusive, intersectional, and didn't sound like a PSA. The result is an all-new, all-local play that's perfectly suited to the Minnesota Fringe, which is a two-week festival of theater, dance, music, and other performance styles in Minneapolis, Minnesota. All shows are selected randomly, which allows experts and novices, playwrights and puppeteers, Minnesota natives and out-of-staters to produce diverse, innovative work side by side.
